Adam started working in 1995 and has since gained international recognition in the hair industry. He has launched four salons, styled stars and collaborated on a range of fashion week events and runway shows.
Since his start in 1989, Adam Reed has been shaking up the beauty industry with his creative and passionate work. Over 30 years later, he’s turning wellness on its head (literally), immersing the world to his most personal project yet, ARKIVE Headcare.
From Adam’s small-town roots in Minehead, to standing on fashion’s global front line, his career has seen him work alongside the likes of Charles Worthington and Redken, along with his current ambassadorships for GHD and L’Oréal Professionnel. In 2020, Adam opened his debut, eponymous salon Adam Reed London, a comfortable and curious emporium of Headcare, and a space for customers to be peaceful and productive.

From the catwalks of London to the red carpets of New York, having styled some of the world’s most famous heads of the nineties, noughties and beyond, Adam knows exactly what it takes to make beautiful hair. But beyond this, Adam wanted to create something that bridged the gap between haircare and wellness. Having spoken candidly through his career about his own journey with his mental health, Adam has harnessed together the synergy between how great haircare makes your head, and hair, feel – this is Headcare. With hardworking, expertly formulated products, ARKIVE Headcare helps to find moments of reconnection in your daily routine, connecting hands to head, and making a positive difference to how you feel.
Adam funnels his passion and empathy into uplifting the causes closest to his heart. From his work as a Trustee for Haircuts 4 Homeless, to championing new, diverse talent into the beauty industry, and breaking the stigma and opening conversations around mental health, along with supporting and empowering the LGBTQIA+ community; throughout his career, Adam has used his opportunities and platforms to bring fresh light to his community and beyond.
It’s with this community spirit in mind, that Adam speaks with real candour about his own mental breakdown at the height of the pandemic in 2020. It was this experience that inspired his journey of developing ARKIVE, a name based on protection and refuge, along with the concept of Headcare itself; and how this small act of kindness to yourself can completely change the way you feel. Adam found the restorative, sensory experience of washing his hair helped to reconnect him with his sense of self, from here the brand was born, launching into the UK in early 2021.
From everyday hair essentials to high performance styling and treatments; with Adam’s principles at the heart of ARKIVE’s own brand values, all of the products are purposefully designed, with clean, cruelty-free and vegan ingredients, and have one simple vow: to make a difference to your head.
