Nick Irwin
Irwin began his hairdressing career in the north of England before relocating to London in the 1990’s to join the TONI & GUY Artistic Team.
During this time, he travelled internationally with the brand’s renowned creative collective, establishing himself as a dynamic force within the global hairdressing community. With a distinctive ability to interpret editorial and high-fashion aesthetics, Irwin quickly became one of the industry’s most sought-after hairstylists. His career evolved from serving as Global Creative Director of TIGI International to taking a seat on the board of directors at Unilever, where he further refined his expertise in blending artistry with commercial strategy.
After departing from his role at TIGI/Unilever, he focused purely on his session work. His work regularly appears in leading global fashion publications and major international advertising campaigns. He maintains a star-studded clientele and collaborates with some of the industry’s most prominent photographers. His long-standing creative relationship with iconic photographer Rankin and the team at Hunger Magazine has played a pivotal role in shaping his artistic direction, and ultimately led to his appointment as Hair Editor of the publication.
Most recently, Irwin was appointed Global Ambassador for Schwarzkopf where he works as a creative consultant across their global business. He remains one of the few hairstylists who seamlessly bridges the session world and the professional hairdressing industry, balancing creative innovation with art and commerce.
