Adam Sloan is a renowned figure in the barbering and hairdressing industry, with a career spanning over four decades.
Starting his journey in 1979 under the mentorship of his father, Adam Sloan Senior, he has since dedicated his life to elevating the standards of male hairdressing and barbering.
As the founder of the Men’s Hairdressing Federation (MHfed), Adam has played a pivotal role in shaping the industry, ensuring barbering is recognized as an art form requiring technical skill, education, and professionalism. His leadership has seen MHfed gain global success, inspiring barbers and hairdressers worldwide.
Adam’s influence extends beyond education and business. He has been a platform artist, session stylist, and educational content creator, producing training DVDs and running five successful salons alongside two academies delivering NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications. His passion for education and industry standards has led him to key positions in regulatory bodies such as City & Guilds and the Barber Council, where he actively campaigns for state registration and professional recognition.
Currently, Adam chairs the City & Guilds Barbering and Hairdressing Industry Board, ensuring qualifications remain relevant to modern barbering standards. His contributions to the industry have been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards (SHABA’s) and his historic acceptance into the Incorporation of Barbers Glasgow Guild, marking the first induction in over 300 years.
