Starting point is to connect barbers nationally and internationally, benefiting individual barbers as well as advancing and promoting the craft. BarberSociety develops initiatives that foster the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and trends. Key activities include the private Facebook community (since 2013), a quarterly edition of BarberSociety Magazine (since 2018)—published in a Dutch and international, English version—and an annual international event for barbers in Amsterdam, BarberSociety Live (since 2016). BarberSociety was founded by Marc van de Hare, a third-generation barber, owner of Van de Hare Amsterdam Barbers, and co-owner of BarberSociety B.V. alongside Miranda Vlas.
BarberSociety Live was launched in 2016 by Marc van de Hare as the ‘live’ experience presented by the BarberSociety’s private social network for barbers & barber shops on Facebook in the belief that the growing men’s trade deserves its own event. BarberSociety Live is a unique barber event in the BENELUX that focuses on barbers and their interests. It’s the leading event where barbers from the Netherlands and abroad meet, exchange knowledge and gain inspiration. Event participants get to experience a festival vibe featuring barber/men’s hairdressing shows, seminars, demonstrations and product presentations and discover the latest on barbering-related and lifestyle brands.
